How do you know its him?

lily and james — Chapter 1

A fanfiction about romance in Books » harry potter

fifth year

I ran towards the great hall for lunch keeping a wary eye around me, 15 feet , 10 feet, 5 feet ,I made it!!! and without a single comment from...

"Will you go out with me evans?" asked a familiar pesky voice from behiend me ruining my mental victory dance.

"For the last time potter NO I WILL NOT GO OUT WITH YOU" I screamed in the middle of lunch in the great hall, a few people turned around but most of them had become so used to this daily fighting that hey did not pay even the slightest bit of attention.

Over my last 5 years at hogwarts everyone from the studens to all the teachers (who didn't even look up at my outburst) had become accustomed to james asking me out at lest 10 times a day.

His personal record was 97 times in one day.

"Potter how many times do i have to say no before it finally gets through your thick skull?" I asked him getting only a smug grin in reply.

"Aww lilyflower, dont you know you love me and one day ,you are going to give in" He said with a serious expression, then going back to his marauderer ways he turned to look at his fanclub which was waiting for him at the giggling and waving at him from the end of the table. He smiled at me one last time while running his hands through his hair, a habit which I throughly disliked, and went to the waiting girls.

I looked toward their group in disgust before turning to the gryffindor table .

"How bad is it?" I heard my best friend alices voice from beside me as i slammed my bag on the table. She looked at me with a pitying gaze.

"23 times" i replied angrily "oh merlin! does that boy have nothing better to do?"

"Well lils ,maybe you should give him a chance.... " she started saying bringing up the conversation that we had at least twice a week. I looked at her with a stony expression which had her backtracking immediately as she suddenly started to wolf down her food at top speed.

"Will you go out with me?" he asked again grinnig from cheek to cheek like the arrogant fool that he was, instead of answering I picked up my bag and decided to leave the great hall in favour of a potter-free enviornment.

I went to the library, a place I knew no marauderer except remus lupin had ever stepped in and started work on my potions essay for Slughorn. It was late in the evening by the time i finished, satisfied by my essay which was 5 inches longer than needed, so i decided to go to the common room knowing that Black, Potter and thier respective fanclubs would be far away by now.

As soon as I reached the common room I slumped into my favourite armchair by the fire and put up my feet to get warm,my previously forgotten irritation flaring up,with the memories of the day fresh in my mind and a frown on my face ,when I heard the chair next to me groan as alice sunk into it.

She tapped me on my shoulder looking at me with a fierce determination in her eyes.

"Lils i need to talk to you about James." she said in her signature no-nonsense alice way.

Merlin it was going to be a long night....
