I do not own anything. Literally.
Summary: After Starfire leaves, Bald Beast Boy, Obsolete Cyborg, Unstable Raven and Nightwing talk to each other for the first time in ten years.
They looked at each other uneasily, bad and good memories playing through their minds. They all seemed to be balancing each set of thoughts, maybe trying to figure out which was worth of attention. It was Beast Boy who finally smiled. It was a sad smile, but a smile at least .
"Dude…"
"How've you being, little man."
Cyborg and the changeling exchanged a timid hand slap. And Nightwing regarded them all gravely.
"Its being some time…"
"Some lots of time."
"I've being working solo since then…"
"I've tried that too…." Beast Boy blushed, his sad eyes lowered to the ground. "and failed."
"We all had." Cyborg placed a hand on his shoulder. Robyn silently agreed.
"Star….she coming back through time. I think it must not be disregarded. I think…it could very well be a sign. Maybe we have learnt what we needed to learn. And its time to…"
"Form the Out of Shape Titans team?"
Beast Boy didn't meant it as a joke, but both Cyborg and Nightwing laughed. He finally joined in.
Raven, Robyn, and Beast Boy had not seeing the tower for a very long time. It was in even worst conditions than the last time they were there. The windows were broken, things could be heard falling inside and the smell of dust and rusted iron was unbearable. They didn't want to go in. So they waited outside as Cyborg picked whatever he had came for. Robyn had decided it was safer to stay at his current base hold.
"Its up to date…and when you get back on your feet, I'm sure you will be able to make it even better."
Cyborg agreed. He closed the door of his car, the only thing he had kept well cared for, the only thing he had guarded and nourish through his isolation. He glanced around and the destroyed rooms sickened him. He hated this place, the Tower he had built with his very own hands so many years ago.. He had stayed there for ten years, left for two hours and now he couldn't't even stand to look at it. It was a monument to what they had being, to what had happened to them all and what they had become. It was a good time to leave and hopefully to never come back.
The T-Car glided in the darkness. The city was silent and gloomy. Without the Titans to protect its streets, it had become a doomed city. People were afraid to come out at night, were afraid to be out of their homes more than it was absolutely necessary. Just the dogs, barking and howling in the night, could be heard.
No one talked during the ride.. Cyborg murmured something about having to save battery. Beast Boy seemed too afraid to make a too loud of a noise. Raven was next to him. She hadn't said a word since the fight. Any question asked went unanswered. The tension emanating from her body was palpable enough to discourage any attempt to touch her and shake her out of her musings. It was like a bomb about to detonate by the most insignificant sound.
They passed the circus. Beast Boy stared a moment at his cage. There was nothing there for him to pick up. All he had was the clothes he wore. And now…maybe his friends again…a sickly friend, a crazy friend, and…Robyn. A leader. His eyes fell on Nightwing who sitting next to Cyborg on the front seat. A leader. Someone to follow, someone to watch over for…to have watching his back. He was back on the pack.
"So…what kind of shampoo do you use?"
Nightwing smiled.
"I just don't use flee poison."
"Oh…Never thought of that…"
"Ah told ya It'd kill yo hair cells."
"Yeah…should have listen to you…." Their smiles disappeared. "On many things."
"We all should have, BB. We all should have…"
