Rose collapsed, fully worn out, onto her bed, feeling as if her heart was still lying on the sands of Bad Wolf Bay. It had been three months since the battle of Canary Wharf and the collapse of Torchwood - and her own involuntary exile to another universe...forever. The tears wouldn't come. The oh so familiar tears just would not come. Dry sobs racked her chest, and still no tears.
"Rose? Are you okay in there, sweetie?" her mother asked with concern, knocking on the door.
Sniffing, Rose wearily replied, "Uh, yeah, I'm fine, Mum."
"D'you want to talk? Did something happen at work today or -"
"I said I'm fine Mum!" Rose cried, thouroughly upset. She was so tired, tired of all the avoided questions, painful reminders, memories that ripped her heart to tinier and tinier pieces.
Jackie Tyler sighed, and eventually walked away, leaving her daughter to mope.
Rose kicked off her Converse and lay down on the bed, feeling every organ in her body slowly implode with the pain of just hearing his name - that was three hours ago. Yet it had been tearing her up all day, until her boss had sent her home early. Everyone at Torchwood knew Rose's sorrows.
It was getting harder and harder everyday just to wake up, not in the TARDIS, knowing the man she loved was in another universe. Forever apart. Forever. Rose snuggled under the covers and tried to wipe her mind clean of all thought, if not just for the moment.
She was so tired of trying to run from the truth of it. Running from the horrible truth that she was trapped - on Earth, in another universe, away from him.
Rose Tyler.
She squeezed her eyes shut tighter, begging for the voice to go away. His voice, always saying her name.
Was she crazy?
It would definately explain a lot.
Was he really calling her, through the void?
If only.
Suddenly, a man grabbed her hand. Rose looked up and saw a tall bloke in a leather jacket. He only said one word - "Run!"
He blew up her work when they first met. She almost smiled at the memory, but the pain was too much.
The Daleks did this. It was them, and the Cybermen, that stole him from me, she thought bitterly. She would get them back, if she had to destroy both universes just to get to them. Whatever it would take, just to feel him one more time.
All Rose wanted to do was collapse at his feet and weep, to fall into his arms, to see his smile, to have him back. She didn't have the strength to go on anymore. It was too much for her to take.
Rose.
"Doctor?" she asked, opening her eyes. Nothing there, as usual.
The tears finally came.
