If anyone ever said that going to a new school isn't hard, their a bold face liar. I didn't expect for Aunt Bella's old truck to get us to the Forks High School o quickly. I guess I was kind of praying that the thing would break down, and therefore leave me carrless and unable to enter my first day of personal hell. Some girl in a different place might of got her golden wish, but today I didn't get mine. It had only been a twenty minute drive before we saw the school, and truthfully, it was hard to miss. Aunt Bella had told me that they'd rebuilt the old school to look more modern day, and to draw attention towards the town of Forks. I would say they did a pretty good job, beause by the time our little truck got into the parking lot, I could tell that this school was a home for the incrowd. Practically everywhere turned, I saw some football looking jock sitting on the side of a new 2008 Jeep, or sport utility vehicle. It kind of made me sad, because as Aunt Bella rounded the truck up to a parking spot, everyone was looking at us and pointing. I even saw a group of Skater boi's stop their courtyard tricks to laugh at Aunt Bella's poor little rust bucket. I ducked my head and felt my face flush. I never liked being the center of attention....instead I liked the calmn and quiet life. One were I was totally ignored and shunned by the real world. Aunt Bella seemed to notice all the kids staring at us and she shook her head,"All these young people think they can make fun of someone just because they don't have the newest and latest technology" she said with a tisk noise. My face got even redder. I know Aunt Bella meant well, but she really didn't understand the meaning of "first impressions". I would probably be the laughing stock of the whole school, and I just came here. I looked around out the window to see where Aunt Bella was parking. I sucked in my breath. We were pulling up to a parking spot that had a bunch of jocks and Arepostle girls sitting on a 2009 Expedition on the right, and two sporty looking girls sitting on a shiny new Camry on the left. I quickly glanced down and pulled up my jacket as Aunt Bella parked the truck. The parking space was a little aways from the door, so I didn't have to worry about finding my way through a crowd of cars. (Which were pulling in by the second). I looked on the car floor and shuffled to get my bookbag. Outside of my window I could hear the voices of the kids on my right. "Who is in there?" "Oh my gawd.....what kind of car is that?" "How could she even come to school? I would be so embarrassed". I felt my face flush. I pulled my bag up to my shoulders and sat in the car for a little while. Looking staight forward. Aunt Bella looked at me. She smiled and squeezed my hand," Just do what your mother always said.....trust in Jesus," she said with a grin. I looked at her from the corner of my eye and smiled a little teeny smile. "Thanks Aunt Bella," I said with a whisper," I needed that". Aunt Bella smiled and let go of my hand,"Now you go show all these kids who a real Swan is and remember to do your best......and to stay focused. Remember Kallee, the most important thing is your education.....not these kids" Aunt Bella said with a jab at the jocks sitting on the Expedition that were still looking at our little truck. Waiting, I suppose, for the bell to ring so they could hurry up inside, or just waiting to see what loser was driving in this beat up truck. But I didn't care if they thought I was a loser or not. I was going to take Aunt Bella's advice that she'd gotten from Mom.....Trust in Jesus. I know He would work it out for me. "Okay," I said with a deep breath," I can do this".
