My parents divorced when I was small, and after the divorce I only saw my father once a year. I loved my father so much though, I wanted to live with him on his farm on Gabriola Island, where everyone knew everyone. But now that I am eighteen I have decided to move out of my mom's house and go to my dad's farm...
I stood in the A-4 terminal line up, the line moving slowly but surely. Someone started tapping there foot in a rythm that went like: tap-tap-tap, tapity-tap-tap. I was already getting a headache from all the talking and walking, the tappping didn't help much. After much tap's later the flight lady asked me for my ticket. I handed it to her and she asked for ID, bla, bla, bla...
When I finally got on the plane I was in quite a grumpy mood. I sat down in the window seat and looked at the rain slicked pavement, where soon a huge plane rolled on. The please fasten your seatbelts sign turned on and I buckled up. The plain started moving, I watched the pavement and grass slowly turn into a big blur. Then the plane lifted off the ground, the loss of gravity always succeeded in making me smile. I watched the cars and trucks turn into little ants and shrink into oblivion. The captain's voice thing turned on and I plugged my ears, and only when someone poked my arm did I unplug them. "What?" I asked. There was a teenager about my age sitting beside me, she had gothish lipstick on and a pale face. "Do you know how long this flight is?" she asked. "No, probably 6 to 7 hours I'm guessing" I said and pulled out a book I'd been reading. I was still a little bit grumpy and I wasn't in for a chat, "Ok, so what's your name?" said the teenager. I rubbed my forehead and took a deep breath, "my name is Kamie, and I would like to read my book right now, so..." I said and she nodded. I pulled my book close to my face and slid down in the seat...
Just as I was really getting into the book she interupted me again. "Whats your books name?" she asked. I showed her the front of the book, she stopped talking again. That was how the whole flight was, little questions here and there. I surprisingly enough struggled through it, when the plane finally landed, I was more exhausted then when I started. I got my bags off the luggage carrier in a daze, my head was spinning, I felt really sick. I waited outside for my dad to come pick me up, finally an old beat up subaru came into view. But that wasn't his car, I looked inside, 'oh no' i thought he was late, really late. But to my surprise the subaru stopped in front of me. "Are you Kamie?" said the man in the car. I nodded slowly, "your father, well he has a very serious illness that just came over him today, we tried to get a hold of you, but because you were on a plane for 7 hours of the day we couldn't. I must inform you that he could, well, die" said the man. I gasped, 'no this couldn't be happening! I love, no he will pull through' I thought to myself. "Umm...can you take me to him?" I asked in a shaky voice. "Yes, you have come all the way" he said and opened the door of the car for me. I slipped in and he pulled out and started the long trek to the farm. After half an hour of driving and a ferry ride over to the small island, we were finally there.
I rushed into the dimly lit house, "dad! dad, where are you?" I shouted. I felt tears slowly breaking through as I burst into his room, he was lying on his bed not moving and eye's closed. His breathing came out raspy and hard, I held his hand and started sobbing...
I woke up to find my dad gone, in his place was a note. It said:
I have a sorry thing to report, your dad passed away during the night and is at the funeral home. The adress to it is 3345 Derman Ave. and if you have any questions please call 247-789-4455. I hope you can make it down to the home, the car has the key's left in it. Again I am sorry for your loss and grieve for you,
Delvo McNeal
I buried my head into my knees and cried for a very long time. I finally got up note in hand and walked over to the door, my hand shakily moved to the handle. I opened it and took a deep breath, I walked to the car and opened the door. The keys were in the egnition, I sat down and turned the key's. It made a gurgly sound then after a few tries unhappily started, I had remembered that my dad was the only one who had a car on the island. I pulled out of the long driveway and started towards the little village that I could have walked to. But right about now a walk would not have been a good idea. I felt like pulling over and crying but I knew I had to go to his before funeral visiting. I saw Derman Ave. and pulled into the big funeral house on the edge of the street. I waited until I was composed and opened the door of my car. I knew for sure I was entering hell...

Ok this is my first chapter, wadya think...too sad, not sad enough? I wanted it to be as realistic as I could make, I just went through the same thing about two years ago now, so I'm trying to base it on how I felt. Anyways please review, and don't give up on the story yet, it get's better I'm telling you!
