The Stars

"Crush" — Chapter 1

A fanfiction about in Misc » Love

Sometimes, you never really know what might hit you at the weirdest times. It could be a sudden rain, it could be a sudden burst of abdominal pain on your way to your first date with that hot guy you always wanted to meet. The thing is, you're never ever, prepared for these things. But what do you do, when something more serious than cramps, comes running towards you when you least expect it?

"Come on! I don't wanna miss the opening of the movie!" I yanked Sarah by her wrist towards the opened doors of the theatre. "It's not a big deal! You've already watched this TWICE, before this. Stop rushing," she said as she wriggled out of my grip and dug through her bag for her gum.

Sarah and I, along with our other friend Alexis, have been best friends ever since we were 13, which was about 7 years ago. We met when we were in high school, and the rest, as they say, is history. We turn to each other for everything, from broken glasses to broken relationships.

"Sarah, I do not want to be a bitch about this, but I paid $10 for this ticket, and I am not going to miss a single second of it!""Fine, fine. I'm running."

We managed to miss only 4 minutes of the movie, according to my reliable Fossil watch. 2 minutes, according to Sarah's phone. Coincidental. After the movie ended, we went down to our favourite cafe, aptly named The Stars for hot chocolates and double chocolate brownies. This place was our usual hangout, and we could spend the whole day just sitting and talking about our lives and people walking past us on the street. Of course, we know all the staff working there on a personal level. I know one even more personally, my boyfriend Jared.

I met him - actually, we- 3 years ago, when The Stars first opened its doors and we decided to be adventurous and try out the new hangout that was not popular amongst the cool kids yet. We were greeted by 3 waiters, 2 male and 1 female. We walked towards the counter and checked out what they served, and their delicious-looking muffins enticed us into ordering a grand total of 4 muffins by the end of our visit.

"That guy's totally checking you out," Alexis rolled her eyes while whispering to me. I looked coyly over my shoulder at the tall, bronzed boy with glistening brown eyes and brownish-black hair which were set in soft, bouncy curls. He noticed me looking, then bit his lower lip and quickly turned around and started absent-mindedly cleaning his coffee machine. "You think? I think he's dishy." The 3 of us cringed at the much overused word that described good-looking boys. "Go up to him!" "Yeah! Go there and pretend to order another drink. Actually, I do need another one of these Apple soda things," Sarah waved her empty plastic cup at me. "Fine." I scooped my wallet out of my bag and walked to the counter again.

The cute boy saw me approaching, and moved from the coffee machine to the cashier to take my orders. Boy, was he cute. And he had one lone dimple on his left cheek when he smiled.

"Erm.. an Apple Soda, please." I tried to hide my flushing cheeks by looking around my wallet in search for exact change. "Anything for you, Miss?" he asked politely as he entered my order into the system.

I quickly shook my head and passed him my money. "I'm Jared, by the way.""I'm Alyson."

And that's when it all started.
