Eliana jerked hard on her chocobo's reigns, making a thin cloud of sand fly into the air around them. She leaned her head against the bright yellow feathers, keeping the sand from stinging her eyes or being inhaled. The thin black cloth around her neck should have been pulled over her mouth and nose, like it had always been, but today she'd been careless. In the Dalmascan Estersand a dark creature lurked, the gil paid to kill the elusive beast was going to be enough to satisfy her for life. She couldn't be careless like this today of all days. And yet something was making her more absentminded than she'd ever been in her life today.
She held tight to the chocobo's reigns as she dismounted, her scalled metal boots scraping against the sand like a snake. She looked more like an assasin than hunter, especially compared to the hunter's clan in Rabanastre. She felt so out of place in her black leather and steel clothing, her cloak made of dark linen. Twin blades at her belt and a bow across her back made the complete look of intimidation.
She lifted her mask over her nose, in turn pulling her hood over her somewhat disheveled hair. The long silvery tresses and smooth skin normally broke the intimidation she held so proudly and it frustrated her to no end. Men thought that just because she was beautiful she wasn't powerful. They'd be sadly mistaken the instant they crossed blades with her. Today just might prove that to a few more of the hunters, maybe a bar fight while she rested and drank. It happened more often than not.
The chocobo tugged at its reigns, but her grip held strong. She pulled him to the gates, having to sooth him with gentle words. She immediately handed him to the moogle minding the stable, handing him a few gil as she was supposed to. After caring for her chocobo was finished she heading into the city.
Just inside the gates stood a grand fountain, the smoothed polished stones it was made from so contrdictory to the worn stones of the streets. It was hard to think how many people had to wander across them everday for them to actually be wearing away. It made her wonder as she stepped towards the direction of the clan hall. The mark she recently killed was put up by one of the older hunters. He was unable to hunt marks anymore, and this beast was making it tough on him to travel and keep his work up. He'd resorted to simple trades after his retirement, Eliana thought it was pointless.
She pushed open the clan hall doors with one hand, "Mont Blanc, where's the bangaa that put this mark up?" She held up crinkled piece of paper while shouting, "he owes me ten thousand gil!" An old bangaa stood and wandered over to Eliana, "there you are, where's my reward?"
"Where's my proof, you reckless girl?"
She rolled her eyes, removing a piece of bloodied fur and several teeth from her bag. "There's your proof, now hand me my gil." He handed her a rather good sized pouch and she took it without counting. It was heavy enough to last her some time even if she was being cheated so it didn't matter to her. "You'll learn to respect me eventually you old bangaa, you all will." She tied the pouch to her belt, pulling her cloak over it to hide it from pickpockets.
Glancing up to Mont Blanc's dissapproving stare she scoffed and left the hall. It was time to visit Miguelo's shop for some basics of the day, like food and water. She walked down the streets as if no one else was there. She didn't care to glance around for others, nor bother answering any greetings. And then it happened...
"Hey, you gonna answer or what?" She hadn't even heard his question, much less been willing to answer him. "Do you have a couple gil to spare or do I have to take it from you?"
Her eyes widened, why would some kid threaten her when she was dressed like this. Her weapons were showing, and even a soldier would have backed off. She turned on the balls of her feet, unsheathing her blade at the same time. The kid didn't even flinch, he just stared at her with a smirk.
"What the hell?"
"Do I get any gil yet?" He asked in the same voice he used earlier. This was turning out ot be a headache inducing day for her.
