"Mother, please come back!" I shreiked as my mother dissapeared through a veil of icey water. I yelled again, but discovered I didn't have a voice. I tried to jump in the water, but then there was a blinding flash of light, and I found myself kicking and thrashing in a dark and musty room.

     "Are you okay?" said a soft voice. It was Johnny.

     "It was just another dream," I said, brushing my overgrown hair back. My face was dirty and my clothes were torn but I was in hiding.

     "You know you don't have to stay here," said Johnny.

     "Where else would I go?" I swallowed. I couln't go back to school because then someone would have to find me a real home. I hadn't gone anywhere in almost a year. Since my Dad died. He was mentally ill and knew that he couldn't hold on for very long. When he passed away, my mother went with him. She couln't take the pain. That left me, all alone and scared, so I packed a few of my things and left home for good. I live in my boyfriend's cellar and it's a mirical that his parents haven't discovered me yet.
