Blood and Bruises - Book I

Part I - Twins — Chapter 1

A fanfiction about vampires in Misc » Vampire Story

Desperado and Dezerae felt that maybe it was time to start being individuals. Having been twins for 17 years, they wanted to now be regarded as Desperado and Dezerae, not “the twins,” “Double D”, or the worst ever, “the Dez siblings.” They were sick of it. It didn’t help that they were pretty popular and looked almost exactly alike. Desperado was tall, tan, had semi-long straight hair, and ever vacant, gorgeous green eyes. Dezerae was just as tall, with short hair, approximately the same length as Desperado’s, with the same complexion and vacant eyes, only in a shade of blue. They both had a birthmark shaped like a large dot on their face. Desperado’s on the right cheek, Dezerae’s on the left. They also both had clear complexions and piercings. Sometimes you would think they were trying to look the same just because they fancied the same type of clothes. These were of the black, red, and white variety. The only difference was that sometimes Dezerae wore skirts and belly shirts. Desperado normally kept to his skinny jeans, cargos and bland shirts. They even both had that I’m-so-tired black ring around their eyes, naturally.

Even though they were so alike on the outside, inside they were cursing themselves. Dezerae, boy crazy, friendly, an attention addict, generous, and kind, was the polar opposite of Desperado. He wished to be alone at all times, hated attention, was selfish, cruel, and hated people only a bit more than himself. It was their personalities that separated them, thank god they had their own rooms and didn’t have to see each other all the time. They would kill each other.

It was their Junior year, a very important year for them, that they wished to be known as Desperado and Dezerae, not “the twins”.

DEZERAE'S POV:

You walked down the hall silently, wearing your skinny jeans hugging your thin legs and your cropped jacket clinging to you. You had your black hair streaked with red over the summer and Desperado had streaked his with blonde.

There’s a difference. You thought.

You had your messenger bag on your shoulder and were walking towards the courtyard for lunch. You could’ve stayed in the lunchroom with your friends, but you wanted to talk to your brother this time, and you weren’t very hungry, so you decided to just ditch them. They never cared when you did it before, as long as they were still invited to hang with you on weekends.

They’re just like fan-girls. You smiled at the thought. They really were.

While you were smiling, you didn’t notice someone walking your way, and bumped straight into him, smacking your forehead on his.

“Ouch! Watch it half- why, hell-o.” You started looking into his face.

He was kind of pale, with violet eyes and blonde hair sporting almost white highlights. It was cut much like yours, only a little shorter, and his black hooded jacket was zipped about half-way up. He had a medallion on a thick silver cord hanging from his neck and snake-bite piercings in his bottom lip. His complexion was clear, one thin eyebrow arched as if waiting for you to say something. He shifted the textbooks he carried under one arm and waited. You silently wondered how much of him wasn’t genuine but your thoughts broke when his thin pink lips formed into a smirk.

“Not going to say, ‘excuse me’, ‘I’m sorry’, or introduce yourself to the new kid?”

His voice was thick and deep, reminding you of dripping honey.

“My name is Dezerae Anne Throttle, one of the most popular girls in this school, I didn’t even know there was a new kid.”

Those words made him smile, revealing his perfect white teeth.

“Yes, there’s a new kid. Just got here Monday, I was on my way to put these books up in my locker since I had some time.”

You chuckled, “No one uses their lockers.”

“I plan to.”

“And you are…?”

“Oh! Almost forgot, my name is Demetri. Last name is Cullen.” He held out his hand to shake yours and you allowed it to hang there for a moment before he rubbed the back of his neck and stuck his tongue out to bite it, as if deep in thought.

You noticed a small, red, jewel sticking out, a piercing, how fun.

He relaxed and flicked his tongue back in, “How about you come hang out with me and Desperado? He’s waiting for me under the big tree out there.”

Your jaw dropped. “Who?”

“Desperado, about your height, black hair, tan, blonde streaks, green eyes…why? You know him?”

“KNOW him? He’s my twin.”

DESPERADO'S POV:

You didn’t understand why it was such a big deal why you made friends with the new kid and didn’t tell him about the fact that you were a twin. He would be gone with his friends soon enough, he had the kind of look to be popular, very popular.

“Chill out Dez, it’s not my fault you don’t talk to new people.”

“I just didn’t notice okay? Why didn’t you introduce us? You do with everyone else you meet?”

“I didn’t want another poor kid brainwashed by you and your plastic fan-girls.”

You smiled. So he thinks so too?

“Um…guys? It’s okay. I get it that you are twins. I understand the tension, don’t freak out.” Demetri said fooling with his wristband.

You looked up at your sister, standing with her arms crossed. “Yeah Dez, chill.”

She huffed and almost sat down when a girl with long curly blonde hair, WAY too much make-up and a big, fat, fake smile to match her other plastic attachments, ran up to her.

“Hey Dezerae! Who’s the hottie?”

“That would be Demetri. Demetri, meet Madona.”

He smirked and waved a hand before completely ignoring the two for his sketchbook.

Madona swooned, sitting down beside him, she touched his shoulder. “What you drawing?”

“Give me some space bitch,” Demetri muttered and she huffed and stormed off, a fuming Dezerae staying behind.

Demetri looked up, “What?”

“That was SO MEAN!”

You chuckled, “She deserved it. She always pushes her nose where it doesn’t belong and disturbs personal space.”

You yawned and leaned back on the tree.

Dezerae huffed and stormed off towards where Madona stood crying.

Demetri looked at you, “I guess Dezerae doesn’t like me any more.”

You shook your head, “Nah, she thinks you’re hot. Want to come over to our house for supper? Mom loves guests.”

Demetri nodded. “That would be cool.”
