A fanfiction about mistery in Books » Thriller

That night was hard to forget. I challenge anybody to try to forget what I saw that night, but in order to forget you have to know. You have to think about forgeting it, and to think about forgeting you have to think about it. That makes it hard to forget, belive me I've tried, but I can't. I would tell you but then I'de have to remember it, then I'de have to forget all over again. It's hard enough to sleep knowing I forgot it, did I ever actually forget it? I must not have because I'm going to tell you.

"Tell me that isn't fucked up." Jack told Terry.

Terry sat back in his seat, watching the road wizz by. Street lights momentarly dismissed the black of the moonless night. He took a drag of his cigarette and patted the ashes out the window beforte grinning at Jack.

"It would be fucked up if it made any sence, Mate." They both chuckled.

Jack lookedover at him momentarly to see his facial gesture and moved his attention back to the dark road. He read the streets signs as they flew past. He slowed down as soon as he read County road 45. He turned right onto the dirt road, ending the comfort of the street lights and the company of passing cars on the highway. He bagane to feel his hands tremble, was he nervous? No. He felt something.A stench in the air that wasn't ceen to the nose. It was a sence of uneasyness. Something just wasn't right and it made him scared.

"Hey, dude. You mind if I have one of your cigarettes?" He asked Terry. Terry looked at him and grined, he reached into the breast pocket of his jacket and handed Jack the whole pach. Jack held out his hand, the hand gesture a squad leader would give his troop to stop. "Just one. I need to break the habit."

Terry Poped the pack back into his pocket and dig in to grab him a single cigarette. Jack took it and pulled a light out from his breast pocket. His lite the cigarette and inhaled. He warm smoke filling his chest and easing his shaking. He felt calmer with each drag he took, his lips puckering around it's tip and pressing down with every puff. His hands stopped trembling momentarly and he was able to focus on the road.

"What do you reckon they want us for, anyways?" Terry asked, slumping even more into his chair, moving the seatbelt to the back of his neck. Jack only shrugged, why would they call his house one night asking him to investigate strange noises? He should have called the police and told them about the request. But he didn't and there he was, driving down a dark dirt road with his best friend sweating and trembling at what may lie in that house. He had only served in the military for two years before dropping out to be a mechanic with Terry. He didn't know the first thing about mechanics besides what end of the HUMVEE was mostly protected. Still, it was work and he needed work. Two mechanics investigating something the police should have juristiction over. Why?

Terry lurched forward in his seat and pointed outa small cottage on the side of the road. "That's where we're headed, mate." He said, a small tremble rose in his voice. What ever the feeling was it had gotten him as well.

They pulled into the driveway of the cottage and sat in their seats for a moment. Neither one of them wanted to go in there. The sence was getting stronger, almost overwelming. Jack hefted a large breath and reached over Terrys lap to access the glove compartment, pulling his hand out holding a revolver. His eyes met with Terrys halfway and they both paused. The only sound was the wind for a moment, not even breathing held any sound. All was still, all quiet, not one movement.

Jack sat up in his seat and continued to look at Terry. Terry just stared back, neither of them knew what they were getting themselves into, nor why they were there in the first place. Terry shook his head for a moment and put his hand on the door handle, his eyes never leaving Jake's. Jake took his eyes off of his to check the ammo for the revolver, a full six shots filled each slot perfectly lined up in a circle surrounding the barrel. He flipped the drum back into the gun and a small clipping sound broke the silence. He look back at Terry and nodded his head.

"What have you gotten me into, you son of a bitch?" Terry told Jack. A small grunt of a chuckle following accompanied by a smile. Jack smiled as well and placed his hand on the door. He pulled the handle and opened the door and began to step out. A small tremer shoock the car, stopping Jack in his movement, frozen like a statue. The door began the swing and the window started to fissure. Terry glanced around the outside, the wind in the trees began to move the leaves into a more heavy dance. His breathing became heavier out of fear. Something was happening.

The car jerked violently to the left, Jack needing to plant his foot on the ground to stop himself from falling out. He felt something cover his foot, an invisable vine or long fingures holding his foot to the ground. Jack pulled back his foot with all of his strength but to no avail. What ever was holding his foot had enough strenghth to hold a house down. The car lurched again, this time to the right. Jack saw the door slam towards him, he held out his hand to stop it from hitting his leg. When th door made contact with his hand he felt his wrist puched back into his forearm, a sharp pain ran up his arm and into his neck, his teeth ached and his head throbbed but his leg was still in takt. The car luirched again forward, resulting in Terry hitting his head against the dashboard, he imediattly put his seatbelt back around his torso to ensure it wouldn;t happen again, what ever it was. He looked towards Jack and saw him struggle. he instantly knew that he was in trouble, big trouble. He instinctivly looked into the back seat and grabbed a bag, he hastly grabbed the zipper, his hand shacking making it near impossable to get a good grip on it, the sweat of his hand making it slip off constantly. He had finally managed to get the bag open in time for another lurch of the car, this time to the left again. Jack was flung forward again, having to hold onto the frame to stop himself from hitting the ground, and being fully caught by whatever has him in it's grasp. Terry looked frantically through the bag. The only thing he could find of any help was a flashlight. He had to settle for something soon or Jack would be dragged out of the car. "It's pulling!" Jack screamed. Terry immediatly grabe the flashlight and leaned over to Jack, just before another lurch to the left. Terry bumped into Jack, causing Jack to loose his grip oon the frame and fall onto the ground. Jack began to screamand flail around the ground. He felt the tenants move over his arms and eventually over his torso, sending a halt to his spazem. Terry turned on the flashlight as hastly as he could and shone it on Jack. He was petrified by what he was looking at. Small veins of blood were what was trapping Jack to the ground, he ran his flashlight along the long, red vein and saw that it went under the house. He shone his light back onto Jack and now saw that the veins were going for his neck, he saw one begine to peirce his skin on his arm. Terry turned to the bag and picked a knife out of it, he leaned over the edge of the car, enough so he wasn't touching the ground but far enough that he could reach the vein, he placed the knife on the vein pericing him and pulled, sending a volly of blood splats. It immediatly retreated towards the house, sending the others with him. What ever it was, it was one.

Jack lay on the ground, gasping for breath. He laid still for a second before he was sent into a panic. He sprung to his feet and began screaming, Terry jumped out of the car and grabbed his arms. "Jack!" He exlaimed. "You need to calm the fuck down! What ever the hell that thing was is gone now!" He hated having to yell over the screams of his terrified friend. He began to pull him toward the car. "We are getting the fuck out of here! Do you understand me? We are leaving!" He gabbed Jacks arms and pulled him towards the car. Jack was still in a frenzyand only stood in the way of Terrys objective to get him back into the car. In a moment of frusteration he turned to Jack and landed a punch right to Jacks left cheek. Jack fell the to ground, immediatly regaining himself. He looked at Terry, practicaly gasping for breath. Terry knelt down beside him and placed his hand behind Jacks head. "You need to calm down, buddy." He said, calmly. "Didn't they teach you to handle situation like these in the army?"

"Yea b-but they don't cover shi-shit like that." Jack hastly said.

Terry held his hand out to Jack. Jack grabbed hold of his hand and was pulled up. "We got to get the hell out of here." Terry repeated. Jack nodded afterwards and turned towards the car. Terry climbed into the drivers seat and Jack pulled himself into the back. Leaving the bag of tools in the passenger seat.

As soon as Terry put the car into "drive" the car lurched forwad. "Oh shit." Terry whispered, just as the car lurched forward again. The wind around them picked up, sending a howling scream through the air as the car lurched twice backwards. Terry looked back at Jack as he put on his seatbelt.Terry grabed for his seatbelt just as the car lurched to the right. He clicked in the belt as the car lurched to the left again. This time with enough force to crack the windsheild

"Hang on!" Terry warned as the car was forced each and every direction, the vehicle convulsed everywere. Shacking violently around while keeping the wheels on the ground. The pair were tossed thrown around in their seat, being held in place by their seatbelts only. The windows began to crack from the sheer force of the car being thrown every which way, slammign against the ground, the axel cracked and Terry witnessed one of the wheels roll away. The shacking continued for what seemed like what was five minutes, the windows cracking and eventually shattering, broekn glass covered the ground around the car and the seats inside. Cutting Terry's and Jack's hands.

The shacking began to calm down, small lurches gave way to an eventual stop of the chaos. Terry looked back at Jack. Jack looked back at Terry with terror. Then on final bump, but it wasn't the fissure, it was the axel of the car giving away, all of the wheels simultaniously broke away from the car, each rollnig ten feet away from the car.

Terry and Jack sat there, not knowing what had just happened, but they knew it was evil and that they were stuck there.
