Quick Setting: In order to paint a picture this story will involve a lot of the original Naruto characters but by is no means following any part of the official Naruto story line. This is my own world though it consists of many of the same villages, and aspects as the main Naruto universe.

War has broken out across the world. Many lesser villages scramble to align with the greater five villages seeking protection against encroaching enemy villages. Kirigakure, Konahagakure, and Sunagakure are aligned and are fighting a desperate battle against Otogakure, Iwagakure, and Kumogakrue. The villages are rallying the most powerful shinobi under their banners in an effort to become the most powerful village left on the land.

Rennik's Pain

Chapter One

Prelude

Naruto, Hokage and ruler of Konoha, sat at his desk pondering his next move. The war was forever taxing on his mind and as if to make matters worse his shinobi were disappearing in the north. Naruto had already gathered the necessary information and had called upon an effort to stop this madness. There was a small knock on his door.

“Come in,” called the Hokage.

Soon Ino stepped through the door. She was wearing her purple attire, equipped with two katana and prepared to receive her mission. Ino's team consisting of Chouji, Shikamaru, and herself had been waiting for something more than just a border patrol.

“So Naruto, what mission did you have for us?” Ino inquired curiously.

“I will inform you once the other teams show up.” Naruto calmly replied but inside he was hyper as always.

Ino sighed and waited for whoever else there was to show up. Soon three more squads entered, her eyes widened and Shikamaru's eyes visibly widened. One of the squads was an ANBU hunter squad from Kirigakure consisting of who knows who, they were operating with a seven man cell. The next squad was all so familiar to most present consisting of Rock Lee, Ten-ten, and Neji Hyuuga. Only to add to the surprise the other squad was just as familiar with Kibi, Hinata, and Shino.

Everyone looked pretty surprised and began to murmur amongst each other in curiosity.

Naruto motioned for everyone to become silent. When they had quieted down he began, “About ten of our shinobi have gone missing up north. They were all ANBU. The first was a three man black-ops cell who went missing about a month ago. I sent a seven man retrieval squad to investigate the disappearance two weeks ago and I have heard nothing from them since. My hands are tied up here or I would investigate these disappearances myself and not risk the loss of more shinobi. Some villagers from the area offered their own stories as to the disappearances and I have drawn a vague conclusion. I believe the cause of these disappearances lies on page sixty-eight of your bingo book. The shinobi present thumbed through the book and soon found what Naruto was talking about.

Age: 18

Status: Missing-nin from Kirigakure

Last known location: The Land of Lightning

Threat level: S-Rank

Additional information: Not much has been released by Kirigakure in regards to this shinobi. He may have been the murderer of the fourth Mizukage and should be regarded as highly dangerous. Seems to always be around wolves. Not much has been revealed about the Ookami clan by Kirigakure and information on this shinobi is pending. Contact the authorities if you have any information on the man. He is wanted for the killings of over three hundred shinobi over the past four years. Is said to use water jutsu and a katana.

Neji spoke up first, “I don't believe I have heard about this Rennik before.”

“I know, but this is the best I can come up with guys. What I do know is whatever is killing or taking are shinobi is highly skilled to take down seven ANBU and he is the only one who matched the villager's descriptions. I need you all to find and kill this Rennik, find our missing-nin and bring them home. Katar will be in charge of this mission,” Naruto finished nodding to the most prominent hunter-nin.

“Thank you for this opportunity Hokage-sama,” Katar said bowing and departing from the room, the rest of his squad on his heels.
