As if nothing had happened — Chapter 1

A fanfiction about fantasy in Books » Inkheart

Dark was falling as Mo and Resa walked over to the campfire. Its been about 2 weeks since Resa and Dustfinger saved Mo from the castle by the lake and it was like every one had forgotten about it, but no it would stay with Resa for the rest of her life just like it had 10 years ago when she had no one. Memories of very long ago clung to her as well, but one inpaticular haunted her every momment of her life. The night when she broke up with her first boyfriend Justin because of his drinking habbit everytime they went to a club...that night he killed himself and Resa toke the blame for it.

Mo looked at her when she bowed her head at the thought of it. "You okay?" he asked gently putting his arm around her shoulder.

She chuckled "Yes I'm fine. Just have a couple things on my mind. Remember Justin?" she said Mo looked at her in grief and sorrow.

"Yes that drunken man you went out with." Mo had never liked him. She knew it to but what did that matter?

"He wasnt completly a drunk though. But anyway i just cant get that night out of my head." Resa exclaimed. Mo nodded and then looked at the campfire, she noticed something in the woods..something shining silver leaving a glare in Resa's eyes. She quickly looked away but the glare in the trees were still there. To her it looked like a knife figure she nudged Mo and pointed to were it was.

"What is that?" she asked. Mo looked at it with little concern

"I'm not sure but what ever it is probably wont cause much trouble." He said. Of course it wont Resa thought. Mo had given her a knife so she could defend herself but she hadnt used it yet thank god.

"Hey guys." Meggie said sitting down in front of them. Both Resa and Mo smiled at her and she smiled back. "Is it ok if me and Farid take a little walk to Ombra? I promise i wont let anyone reconize me!"

"Yes of course." they both said at the same time. Meggie hugged them so tight she could have sufficated Resa and then ran off to Farid.

When Resa stared back at the forest the shinging glare was out of her sight and she couldnt see it anywhere. It was oddly strange maybe its a white women or something...wait no you've seen them before Resa! They only come when death fumes and they look nothing like that. "I think I'm going to take a little walk." She said to Mo straighting up.

"Oh ok...want me to come along with you?" Mo asked looking up at her. His face showed no emotion it was grave as a stone.

"No you can stay i just want to think about somethings." Resa said turning and walking the opposite direction. She walked towards the forest never once looking back.  When Resa finally found the pond she always sat at in the night when she had things on her mind (which was almost every other night) she sat down dropping her feet in the cold water that remained fishless. Resa sat there for a while, birds were no longer chirpping as it continued to get darker and darker outside. What would it be like if me and Justin didnt brake up? What if Mo never read me into inkheart? What would my life be like if Mo had just suddenly disappered or died before my eyes? All these horrid questions haunted her mind for quiet some time as she stared down at the water which the moons light was refecting off of. Then she heard it SNAP! Resa looked around as if to find Mo walking behind her but no instead a large cold brutal hand covered her mouth inabling her to scream, and pulled her back.

"Well..if it isnt our little pigeon?"
